Military Weapons Techs used as Infantry? Is it possible?

Say your a weapons technician for the Canadian Armed Forces (Land), and the Army at the moment doesn't need weapons techs, will they put you in infantry even though you have speciality training?? I know that your a soldier first and a weapons tech second but would they do that??
