When my shirt gets wet it reeks of mildew, how do I get it out?

My two favorite shirts (cotton) smell of mildew anytime they get wet from rain or sweat. It's not BO or anything like that. It's just these two shirts. I would like to know if there is a way to remove that from the fabric?
